Location

It is located in the municipality of Villatuelda, in the southwest of the province of Burgos, in the northernmost part of the Ribera del Duero wine region. This is where the birth of AZUEL came about in 2004, when two families decided to join forces to launch this business that combines tradition and innovation.

Vineyards

A small, hundred-year-old vineyard planted with well-trained Tempranillo or Tinta del País is the basis of our wines, accompanied by small lots of grapes planted from tiny plots that were planted at the same time. We also have younger vines and thus try to extract the maximum potential from this unique terroir, taking care of even the smallest details in both grape-growing and winemaking operations.

Winemaking

The philosophy of the winery includes regulating production to maintain our maxim: quality and price. Production controls are very comprehensive, with a double grape selection process, at the vineyard and in the winery, harvesting in 20 kg bins and fermentation in 15,000 litre tanks, with long maceration to achieve greater structure and balance, while maintaining primary aromas.

Ageing takes place in American and French oak barrels —half and half.

The whole range of Azuel wines highlights the typical character of Ribera del Duero, with the specific nuances of the terroir and the elegance and complexity contributed by Tempranillo vines planted on typical clay-limestone soils located at an altitude of 900 m above sea level.

We have two types of wine, both of them single-varietals: Roble and Crianza.

Location

A family winery founded in 2004, owned by Maria Victoria Dovalo Méndez, located at the heart of Salnes, in the municipality of Meaño, province of Pontevedra.

Vineyards

She owns 15,000 m2 of Albariño vineyards in the Rías Baixas designation of origin.

Winemaking

The winery has a processing capacity of 40,000 kg of grapes. The tanks are stainless steel with cooling jackets for temperature control. Semi-automatic filling and labelling system. The winery is currently making 23,000 litres of Albariño wine under the Rías Baixas designation of origin.

Wines

It markets Albariño white wine marketed under the Veiga Naúm brand.

History of the winery

Pierrel was founded in 1990 by Dominique Pierrel, a young man of 29, who decided to start his own business in the "capital" of Champagne, Epernay. From the outset it was clear for him that he needed the highest quality grapes in order to obtain the best results. To this purpose, he partnered with small vineyard owners in the most prestigious growing areas in the Epernay region. In 1999, he took a step further and formed a partnership with Philippe Robert, a grower whose family has been dedicated to producing wine for over 50 years. Both combine their respective expertise, so that Philippe is responsible for the production and processing of Champagne, while Dominique takes care of marketing and sales. Their common goal is to provide Champagnes which are characterised not only by their content but also by their packaging, becoming a true reflection of their terroir while at the same time being able to evoke feelings of originality and authenticity.

We have five types of champagne, all brut: Cuvée Tradition Brut Selection, Oressences Brut, Tradition Brut Blanc de Blancs, Tradition Brut Millésimée and a rosé Tradition Brut Rosé.

Location

Bodegas Viore is Bodegas Riojanas’ firm commitment with the D.O. Rueda. The project was carried out in collaboration with the Reina de Castilla winery, located in the town of La Seca, Valladolid.

Winemaking

The best of traditional harvesting methods and centuries-old customs are maintained and combined with the most innovative in twenty-first century techniques, such as night harvesting. This type of harvesting is the most appreciated grape picking system among professionals, as keeping the fruit at low temperatures throughout the process leads to significantly better quality wines.

Vineyards

The vineyards consist of old vines that are more than twenty years old, providing adult, mature grapes, full of the essence of splendid wine production.

Cum Laude is a small artisan winery in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, the birthplace of Cava, founded in 1985 by a group of experts from the world of wine and cava with over 40 years' experience in the industry. Honouring the name of the winery, its goal is to produce cavas of exceptional quality through a strict selection of those wines that can age best.

History of the winery

Bodegas Torreduero, S.A. is the result of the firm commitment made by Bodegas Riojanas, S.A. —a renowned winery with over 100 years’ experience in Rioja— in the Toro Designation of Origin. This commitment is based on the well-known traits of this region’s wines: exceptional colour and a robust body, offering a great present and a very promising future potential. This is mainly due to the local grape variety, Tinta de Toro (a close relative of Tempranillo that resisted the phylloxera pest and thus does not need to be grafted onto American rootstock) and to the superb grape-growing climate and geological conditions of the region.

Its ancient history is already documented from the time of the Roman Empire, reaching its peak in the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance period (12th-16th centuries). The excellence of its wines has also been documented for many centuries, the wine being one of the favourites at Court in Madrid in the days of the Hapsburgs (16th-18th centuries), its fame lasting until today. Bodegas Torreduero, S.A. brings together the ancestral winemaking tradition of Toro and the most modern oenological techniques. This achieves top-quality wines that are innovative while retaining the traits that have given them their unmistakable character and style.

Bodegas Torreduero, S.A. is located in the town of Toro, capital of the D.O. Toro. The town sits atop a hill overlooking the historic river Douro and its long-standing winemaking tradition.

Winemaking

Bodegas Torreduero, S.A. contributes its own vineyards and modern facilities, applying strict quality controls from the vineyard (careful selection of grapes) carrying out vinification and ageing (in American oak casks and in the bottle) until the wine reaches the end customer (final quality control and monitoring of their wines on the market).

Wines

The winery makes young, Crianza and Reserva wines with the following brands: Peñamonte and Marqués de Peñamonte.

Winemaking

In the mid-twentieth century, José María Pascual began to make the home-style Pascali vermouth. He uses a formula based on Viura white wine, produced by Bodegas Riojanas, S.A., that is blended and macerated with a painstaking selection of aromatic plants, flowers, fruits, roots and barks. This formula has been passed down the Pascual family from one generation to the next. Currently, Valentín Pascual, the last active individual winemaker in Cenicero, is the person responsible for making it.

Bodegas Riojanas, S.A. has been marketing the Pascali vermouth in both the domestic and foreign markets since 1990.
